Film Making Challenge Day
The Film-Making Challenge Day brings together all the major areas of film making in a single day. Students write the script as a group and then work as a team to schedule and shoot their project over the day. The students will learn how to operate cameras and sound equipment, coming to understand the codes and conventions in film-making. The students will also come to understand how a film set works and what each member of the crew does, what their roles are and what impact they have on the finished product.
Aims
Encourages learners to engage with the whole film making process, from concept to delivery, whilst giving them an opportunity to work with professional film-makers. This workshop has a deliverable product outcome, which can help to further engage and encourage student groups. Students will be required to work in front of, and behind, the camera to create the film.

Introduction to Set
Students are introduced to the workings of a professional film set. The students have the opportunity to engage with, and understand, all roles, responsibility and requirements of a successful professional film set. Students will be encouraged to take roles within their own film set to increase learning and development.
Aims
Encourages learners to gain experience, and understanding of a professional film set working with film professionals which can aide facilitating the exploration of career and HE opportunities.

Acting for Screen
Performing Arts students will be taught the subtleties of on screen performance, the difficulties faced from theatre to screen and how to prepare for the stop start performances as required when performing on camera.
Aims
Performing Arts students will learn about different types of acting required for different mediums. This will give them an idea of what sort of acting courses would be right for them in HE.

Professional Acting
Performing Arts students are taught by acting professionals. Students take part in a number of exercises and activities to understand the skills and expectations of working as a professional actor.

Directing Masterclass
A director will engage and inform the students about the director's role when working with actors, camera and art department. Students will be informed of the different kind of directors and the range of skills needed to work successfully with cast and crew.

Marketing Workshop
Students will be tasked with creating posters/Electronic Press Kits (EPK)/viral campaigns for The Co-operative British Youth Film Academy. This task could function as a stand alone project or as a live brief, and may be tied in with the curriculum as an ongoing project. BYFA could then act as a client to whom the student could pitch and (at a later date) present completed marketing campaigns.

Encourages learners who are interested in marketing and media to learn about this area of the film industry and career and HE opportunities.
